Autumn Home Maintenance Tips

At the beginning of each season, it is important to complete some simple home maintenance on your home. This is to avoid major home emergencies from something that could have been prevented. Also known as “preventative care” performing routine maintenance is a great way to save money in the long run.

-Check the wood trim around windows, doors, railings and decks for rotting wood.

-Cooler temperatures and low humidity make Autumn a great time to paint your home’s exterior. Painting your home yourself can be stressful and even dangerous; take a look at our exterior painting services.

-Check the insulation in your attic to make sure there is no damage and that it is installed properly. If you suspect that your insulation isn’t as effective as it could be, take a look at our insulation services.

-Have the filters in your furnace or heating system cleaned and replaced.

-Window seals can crack and shrink over time. Have your windows and doors checked for leaks and drafts. Replace any screens with storm windows.

-Rake up any leaves that settle on lawn surfaces. Grass can suffocate underneath the leaves and allow disease and bugs to flourish.

-Trim any dead branches off trees to prevent them from falling down unexpectedly during a winter storm.
