St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Historic Preservation – Steps and Railings

The entrance staircases at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Spotswood, NJ experienced concrete failure over time. Each staircase had its own share of problems such as cracked stair treads, concrete deterioration, and mortar joint failure. The railings on one set of steps rusted. M&M Construction Specialist made repairs to the steps which included repointing, new limestone step treads where needed, new joints in the treads to prevent future cracking, and one new set of railings.

A long, 60 foot railing stretching from the parking lot to the front steps of the church did not match. It was made of aluminum, rather than iron, and its paint was peeling. M&M Construction Specialist fabricated a new 60 foot black iron railing to match the staircase railings in size and style.
