Choosing the Right Shingle Color

Thinking about replacing your New Jersey roof? The most difficult part of this process can be deciding which shingle color best compliments your home. With so many options, how can one choose?

1. Neutral colors are always a safe option when making your decision. Blacks, charcoals and browns are colors that will work well with any color and type of siding. Earth-tones such as dark brown or even light brown look great on homes with brick siding.

2. Homes that have more than one dominant color on their front look best in either very dark charcoal or black. The home below has brick colored siding with butter yellow trim.

3. Here is an example of both a dark and light roof installed on this home. The dark color is more fitting.

4. When in doubt, take a look at the homes in your area. A general rule of choosing shingles is to choose the shade closest to the siding color. Light siding can be paired with either light or dark shingles, while dark siding looks best with dark shingles.
